Mental Health Housing
We currently own and operate three apartment buildings, each with six units. The apartments provide safe and affordable housing for consumers who are receiving mental health services and who need assistance with housing. By placing the apartments in the local communities, we give each individual the opportunity to be a viable part and blend into the community. The units connect to a commons area. This common area encourages our tenants to provide mutual support and can also be utilized for group functions. Each of these units is fully furnished. All utilities are included with the rent. Two of these units are located in Mercer County, while the third is located in Van Wert County.
To assist those clients with families, we have built a three-bedroom duplex, also located in Mercer County. These units come unfurnished, with utilities included. MRSI is the designated housing agency for the Mercer, Van Wert, and Paulding Counties Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services Board. As designated housing agency, it is our responsibility in assisting their clients in obtaining safe, affordable housing in the community.

CPR & First Aid certification are required and will be provided. Applicants must complete a background check.
Respite Care Services
Respite Care is a term used to describe time taken by the caregiver for rest and rejuvenation from the demands of caring for a person with a disability or other long-term illnesses. Caregivers need time away from their caregiving responsibilities to pursue personal interests, socialize with friends and family or simply to take a break. Though caregivers often feel guilty leaving their loved one in the care of someone else, it is imperative for both parties to get a break from each other. Caregivers who neglect their own physical and emotional health may be ill equipped to meet the daily challenge of care giving. Respite services can vary from a few hours per day to several days in a row depending on the policy of the service agency.
MRSI offers both short term and extended Respite Services. Short term Respite Care is less than 24 hours. Extended Respite Care Services include overnight stays.
MRSI employees are all qualified and well trained. All staff is certified in CPR and First Aid and is trained in delegated nursing procedures. A registered nurse is on-call 24 hours a day. A supervisor is available 24 hours a day. MRSI have staff who are trained in the use of various adaptive equipment.

Mercer Residential Services owns and operates an eight-bed group home in Celina, the Wayne Street Home. This home is an Intermediate Care Facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities (ICF/IID). We manage the Thomas Edison Group Home, also an eight-bed home, located in Van Wert. These homes provide 24-hour staffing, 7 days a week. We offer individualized training based on the needs and desires of each person in the area, including, but not limited to daily living skills, academic functions, human sexuality and life safety skills. We provide Person-Centered support and believe in the power of self-determination, along with self-advocacy.
We strive to make inclusion a reality for the individuals we serve. Our purpose is to maximize each individual’s potential by providing intensive real-life learning opportunities. This is accomplished by having the same expectations for our consumers as we have for ourselves. Consumers participate in normal everyday activities, such as performing hygiene tasks, going to work, preparing meals, grocery shopping, visiting friends, performing household chores, maintaining finances or enjoying leisure time activities, individually or in small groups.
